Wedding Favors Double as Centerpieces?

Phoebe Gutierrez • April 19, 2021

Let’s talk wedding favors! Before we dive in, let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a Venue Coordinator at the Alta House Event Center and although we are the new kids on the block, trust me when I say – hands-on experience is the best teacher. From the dos and don’ts to the “heck yeah I love that idea, Let’s do it, girl”! When it comes to wedding favors, I have pros and cons. I’ve seen favor ideas range from Jordon Almonds to classic koozies to personalized blankets.

Should you offer wedding favors for your guests? Is it a waste of money, time and effort?

My thoughts on it? It’s your wedding day! YOURS! You have one chance to make it exactly how you have always dreamed it. Down to every detail (if you can help it!). I know what you’re thinking because I see it all the time. Wedding favors get left behind and the couples have a ton of them left over. At the end of the evening, I find myself gathering up “left behind” knickknacks for our couples. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining at all! In fact, wedding favors are a direct reflection of a couple’s style and I adore those personal touches.

Although these facts may be true, what if we kill two birds with one stone? It’s my belief that there are ways you can make your wedding favors have multiple uses so you won’t feel like your thoughtful efforts went unappreciated while you also wow your guests with something outside the “norm”.

There are many ways to make your wedding favors versatile and add that special touch throughout the evening. In some cultures, they want you to take the center piece home with you. I, myself, am from the Hispanic culture. We have a tradition where for baby showers and Quinceañera it is customary to take the centerpiece at your table. I would love to see this incorporated with weddings. The pros for wedding favors that double as a center piece is it will add a sense of appreciation for the guests that attend your big day, but also get them involved.

Bubbles

Let’s start with traditional wedding bubbles . Imagine bubbles packaged in tiny champagne bottles at each table, contributing to your decor, but also having the added benefit of something for children to play with and creating adorable photos for your send off that gets everyone involved. Venues have their own policies regarding bubbles, especially in the interiors of the venue for safety reasons of course, but at the Alta House Event Center, you have free range to use bubbles outside!

Hand sanitizer

It’s no secret that we all had to make a few changes in 2020, and it’s important to continue these sanitary practices. These adorable little bottles of hand sanitizer can be put at each table seating and or left out, perhaps by your guest book or next to your snack table. Either way, this party favor is one that everyone can appreciate.

Bottle

I can’t begin to tell you how much I love this party favor idea. First, look at how beautiful it presents itself : a bottle of champagne/sparkling cider as center pieces! Let’s face it, you’re going to pay for refreshments regardless, so why not add it as a centerpiece and save a few bucks? Secondly, it’s a cost-efficient way to make your tabletops double their purpose elegantly and effortlessly.

Candy Jars

This is a fun and creative way to make your event personal and unique. Small, decorative jars can be as elaborate or as simple as you choose . That’s the fun part. I’ve seen this in many varieties such as M&M’s, Skittles, almond candies, mints and so much more. A super fun one that can be a tad bit more costly is personalized candies. This is a way to color coordinate and keep the theme of your event steady.

Let’s face it, although it’s the first day of the rest of your lives, keep in mind that it’s the joining of two families into one. An opportunity to wow your family forever with simply gestures to thank them for their participation. You can go the extra mile and “go all out” or keep it “short and sweet and hard to beat”. Regardless, I will always love wedding favors for weddings.
